Profile of Sociology Department

About the Department

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1974. It is run by a group of well-qualified (2 M.Phil, 1 Ph.D.) and experienced faculty members. The department  offers Bachelor Degree (CBCS and FYUGP).It has an association named as "Study Circle" under whose aegis various programmes and initiatives have been undertaken for the all round development of the students of the department. The members of the Association include all the Major students and the faculty members of the department.

Vision:

  • To march ahead with critical and positive thinking among students.
  • To inculcate moral, social and human values among the students.

Mission:

  • To organize one popular talk on social issues in Assam.
  • To conduct student career counselling programme for future placement of outgoing students.
  • To conduct a orientation programme for the students.

Future Plan of the Department

  • To organise one workshop on Research Methodology in Social Research.
  • To conduct a environmental related Programme annually.
