About the Department
The Department of Botany was established in 1969 with HS courses. The UG course was started in 01/12/1975 and the Honors course in 1989. DBT, Government of India under the Scheme of IBT Hub (2013) and Star College (2017) and RUSA has supported the department in upgrading the laboratory infrastructure. The department runs a three -year B.Sc. degree course (under CBCS) and in Major FYUGP Courses (NEP 2020) that are spread over six and eight semesters, respectively, under the Semester System as per the Academic Calendar of Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh for Undergraduate Courses. The faculties of the department is actively involved in research in various fields of botany, which include Angiosperm Taxonomy and Plant Diversity, Molecular Biology, Cytogenetics, Ethno-botany, etc. We also takes up active participation in interdisciplinary activities with the other departments of our college.

- To conserve the germplasm of the indigenous and rare plant species of the Sivasagar district by ex–situ means
