The Department of History was established in the year 1959. The department has a strength of 2 Regular and 1 management sanction experienced Faculty Members with 2 Ph.D. and 1 M. Phil. The Department offers courses in U.G and P.G. (Major, Minor and Generic Subjects). The department has been conducting tree plantation drives time to time under Swasha Bharat Abiyans on different occasions. The department has a small museum containing more than 200 historical artifacts. The History Department has an Association in the name of Historical and Antiquarian Studies. The Departmental Wall Magazine “Sati Joymati” and a handwritten magazine, "Moi Dastabez," is published annually by the students of the Department. It focuses on various current issues, literature, and socio-economic, political and cultural aspects.

To study the Archaeology and Ethnography of North East India.
To organize awareness program among the students for studying the local History.

The Department aims to deepen understanding of the past, empowering students to critically engage with the present and shape the future.
