About the Department

The Department of Commerce was established in 1959 and it was affiliated in the year 1969. The Department is presently offering B. Com (CBCS) speciality courses and FYUGP with honours in Accountancy, HRM and Marketing as per the new syllabus. It also provides four value-added certificate courses on Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Human Resource Management and Business Communications.

The department has a strength of 7 faculty members ( 4 Ph.D. including 3 M.Phil. and 3 pursuing Ph.D). The Department of Commerce aims to establish itself as a comprehensive department of excellence in commerce education and social sciences responding to the changing reality of the globalized world. The Departmental Wall Magazine 'COMMERCIO' provides a platform for students to express their skills and creativity on issues relating to economy, commerce, and business management.  

The department also has notable MOUs with reputed organisations and institutes. It offers special attention to slow learners and advanced learners by organising various insightful student seminars, special talks and workshops. It is further strengthened by a special mentorship program catering to the needs of all categories of students.
